Kieona
When Kieona arrived at She Brews, she was a single mother fighting to regain custody of her children, and struggling with a 15 year drug addiction. Though stints in both jail and inpatient rehab had been impactful, Kieona still didn’t have the direction and guidance she felt that she needed to make permanent change. In fact, lacking both work experience and a meaningful stretch of sobriety, Kieona’s first day at She Brews was also her last—for awhile, at least. “I just wasn’t ready,” she says now. However, after giving birth to her youngest child and a chance encounter with a She Brews board member, Kieona came back on, this time for good. Working her way up from barista, Kieona is now our Lead Roaster—and more importantly, has regained full custody of her children.
