NOTES
Cranberry • Peach • Berries • Hibiscus
This natural processed coffee comes to us from Wayou Sida, a native of Bale. As a young man, he left his family of coffee farmers in West Arsi to pursue higher education. He eventually made it to the United States, where he settled on a career in social work. He never forgot his family and eventually started helping them farm and export their coffee. Their deep roots in coffee farming are evident in the preparation of this coffee. It is shade-grown and intercropped with banana and acacia trees at an elevation of between 1900 and 2020 meters above sea level, which ensures wide intraday temperature swings, contributing to the density and sweetness of these beans by drawing out the maturing process. We are also told this crop benefited from higher than usual rainfall during its peak growing season, leading to less drought-stressed plants and a higher quality harvest. For their first-ever export, AA Exports worked diligently to follow organic agricultural practices and are actively pursuing organic certification to further ensure their degree of quality for the future. He also works to fund local schools in the area where he grew up as well as reforestation efforts around the family farms. We are proud to know that our purchases can help fund such efforts.
Cupping Notes: Cranberries, peach, berry tisane and hibiscus tea.
