For more than fifteen years, She Brews has been synonymous with restoring hope to women emerging from incarceration, creating second chances and rebuilding families. Yet, behind the bustle of its coffee shops and roasteries, another story has quietly been unfolding: the She Brews Men’s Program.
Launched in 2020, the program has grown steadily over the past five years. Founder Rhonda Bear describes that period as a “whirlwind,” marked by steady progress and unexpected success. Unlike the women’s program, where attrition can be a challenge, most men who begin the program stay the course, committing to the full 18–24 months it takes to complete.
The focus is clear: helping men become Christ-followers, dependable partners, good fathers, and hard-working community members.
Structured for Success
The Men’s Program mirrors the core structure, rules, and values of the women’s program, ensuring fairness and accountability. But there are key differences. Men do not work in the She Brews coffee shops and roasteries, and their children do not live in the house with them. Instead, the program emphasizes visitation support and advocacy, helping men rebuild connections with their families.
This approach has built trust among local employers, many of whom are confident in hiring men currently in the program as well as its graduates. Their example, shaped by leadership, strength, and resilience, has inspired others in the community seeking change.
Expanding Capacity
To better support each participant, She Brews hired a Men’s Case Manager in 2025, ensuring nothing “falls through the cracks.” This added structure has strengthened the program, but growth has created new pressures.
The Men’s House currently serves seven residents, and every bed is full. A waitlist is constant, often forcing staff to turn men away. To meet the demand, Bear envisions converting part of the garage into a bedroom with two new bunk beds and reducing the laundry room to create a second bathroom. Quotes are being gathered, but the vision depends on new funding.
Those who feel called to support the project can visit shebrews.org or email [email protected] to learn how to contribute.
I think all the guys are doing well because they care about getting better in all aspects of their lives. We try to set realistic goals in every category, every month. They try to meet their goals, and when this is being done consistently, they start to see progress. All the guys are putting God first in their lives, and see that is the only way to recover!

Restored Families, Renewed Lives
The most powerful evidence of the program’s impact is seen in lives transformed.
One story began with Talia, a woman our founder, Rhonda Bear, first met in prison. After Talia entered the women’s program, her brother Rigo soon followed into the Men’s Program. Today, Rigo has a driver’s license, a car, consistent employment, and is pursuing his GED. Their brother Thalin also has an open door at She Brews, a sign of how cycles can be broken family by family.
Generational recovery is becoming a visible trend. One graduate of the Men’s Program married a graduate of the Women’s Program, and together they now serve as exemplary leaders for others. We have also frequently served brothers who enter the program together, committed to breaking generational cycles.

From Cycles of Incarceration to Generational Recovery
Since its founding, She Brews has worked against the heavy tide of generational incarceration. Today, it is witnessing the opposite: generational recovery.
Because of consistent support and a faith-driven mission, She Brews continues to provide men with housing, advocacy, and community. These are the foundations for restored families and renewed lives.
She Brews is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, coffee shop, roastery, and transition program dedicated to disrupting cycles of incarceration and reuniting families.
